Senior Control Room Operator
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
- Location: Al Shaheen Offshore Field, A-site Control Room
- Department: Field Operations – Offshore Area
- Report to: Production Supervisor (N+1), Production Superintendent (N+2)
- Work schedule: rotational scheme (28 days ON/ 28 days OFF). Both day and night shifts are part of offshore rotation. 12h per day extendable on request.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for monitoring offshore oil and gas production facilities, utility and life support systems via computer-based SCADA, ESD, F&G control and safeguarding systems under minimal supervision.
- Responsible for capturing and communicating emergency events impacting safety, production or operation.
- Responsible for delivering production & business reports and accountable for accuracy of shared information,
- Responsible for the completion of the tasks given by the production supervisor.
- Responsible for actively participate of a permanent member of the platform in respect of the team.
ROLE AND ACTIVITIES
Daily operating:
- Ensure production routine tasks are completed and prepare production reports,
- Participate in daily communications and coordination between "Onshore" pertaining to key matters,
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with external parties required to meet NOC's business and operational objectives,
- Participate and support Contractor/Vendor performance working on the field,
- Provide Team Lead with regular reports with analysis and comment on performance and results. Be held accountable for area of responsibility.
Monitoring and optimization:
- Monitor and control all parameters of the unit to optimize operational performance and enter periodic readings on log sheets,
- Summarize all activities/events and assist in preparing a detailed and accurate shift activity log for shift handover and prepare production reports,
- Ensure production routines tasks,
- Provide feedback on operational performance and safety issues, and propose initiatives to improve daily operations,
- Identify opportunities and initiatives that enable production, injection and environmental improvements.
Mentorship:
- Guide and support junior staff in the execution of their day-to- day responsibilities and help create a learning environment,
- Provide support as necessary to Qatari employees to assist them in achieving recognized qualifications,
- Identify opportunities and champion initiatives that enable maximum production and injection output within the parameters of environmental compliance and process safety.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Contribute to the development and review of risk assessments, ensuring hazards are identified, mitigations are adequate, and risks are minimized,
- Actively participate in and promote an incident-free culture, adhering to company health and safety campaigns, policies, and procedures.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Education: higher national diploma or certificate (equivalent to A-levels + 2 years’ study). Industry Experience: Minimum 5 years of recent experience in O&G production operations, petrochemical, refining and/or production industries in a similar role.
Certifications:
- T-BOSIET / H2S
- Fitness to Work Certificate
- Advanced First Aid
Company specific certification (as a minimum):
- Health & Industrial Hygiene
- Industry Golden rules
- Electrical Habilitation Level 2
- Gas and NORM test training
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Technical knowledge:
- Proficient in process, water treatment, gas treatment, gas lift, production equipment’ functionality, utility equipment’, well and ability to operate it,
- Understand operational safety and ability to identify potential hazard (SimOps, pressure, lifting, ect…),
- Thorough understanding and use of P&ID and C&E drawings, and isolations principles,
- Basic understanding of Digital Control System (Siemens, ABB), instrumentation and control equipment principles, including fault diagnosis,
- Knowledgeable in industry process safety guidelines and procedures.
- Familiarization with ABB & SIEMENS ICSS advantageous
Language skills:
- Fluent in written and spoken English (mandatory). Safety English Test (SET) to be completed prior mobilization.
Computing skills:
- Good command of Microsoft Office pack, Good reporting skills.
