Pipelines Integrity Engineer I
SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION
- Reporting to Lead, Pipelines and Structures (N+1) and Head, Inspection & Corrosion (N+2).
- Position has 0 direct reports / subordinate positions (N-1)
- Position supervises ad-hoc contract personnel associated with inspection related activities
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To manage the pipeline inspection/integrity strategy and its execution across the Al Shaheen facilities
- Responsible for the planning and deployment of resources to affect pipeline inspection/integrity surveys field wide.
- Required to work in close collaboration with Offshore Integrity Engineers and other discipline leads as required throughout planning phase
- To perform initial assessments on findings and initiate escalation as required - Responsible for inspection and reporting on pipelines, PLEMs, SPMs, subsea and floating hose assemblies
JOB DIMENSIONS
- This position requires full compliance with both local and regional legislation, in addition to relevant processes and procedures defined as part of North Oil Company’s document hierarchy
- The position requires that regular reporting streams are maintained with onshore operational and engineering communities and offshore site-based leadership personnel, ensuring both transparency and traceability
- The position has an element of autonomy regards seeking out new initiatives and approaches to integrity management
- The role demands that reporting lines onshore/offshore are kept informed and findings escalated as required
- This role is a key contributor to department budget preparations and rolling forecast reporting/planning
- Responsible for establishing pipeline inspection plans that feed into budget preparations
- This role is required to oversee and remotely direct inspection activities ensuring full competence checks and pre-mobilization briefings are carried out.
- Contribute to establishing KPIs for relevant contracts, discussing, meeting, auditing and reporting regularly on contractor performance
- This position requires that close collaborations are maintained throughout the onshore/offshore operational and functional teams; to deliver on the core remit of delivering on a reliable and safe operation.
- Role requires frequent collaboration/interfacing with third party verification vendors and contractors
- A failure to adequately manage the integrity of pipeline entities could lead to a significant safety impact and/or loss of production.
ACTIVITIES
- Drive an incident free environment through establishing and maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Contribute to the strategy development and execution of processes, procedures and guidelines relevant to pipeline integrity
- Organize and oversee the activities and work of contractors to ensure compliance to relevant procedures and controls within area of responsibility
- Responsible for planning, preparing and scheduling the annual pipeline inspection program and inspection related activities ensuring the required level of integrity, reliability and safety.
- Implement operational priorities, targets and plans in line with policies, guidelines and operating procedures.
- Provide the Team Lead and Dept. Head of Inspection with regular reports; analyzing and commenting on performance and results.
- Ensure vendor personnel are pre-job briefed onshore, informed about offshore contact persons and informed about relevant HSE compliance before offshore mobilization. - Pro-actively assess the results of the inspection program and modify the strategy as required on a reactive or annual basis.
- Populate and maintain up to date database for the inspection findings with remedial actions where necessary.
- Establish scope of work for remedial offshore work related to findings including prioritization of findings.
- Feedback inspections results/findings, and communicate them to Engineering Department(s)
- Encourage and foster process/operational safety awareness related to own discipline.
- Demonstrate financial prudence; Prepare risk-based activity plans and budgets, reporting rolling forecast and accruals.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with external parties required to meet NOC objectives.
- Drive best practice maintenance and inspection techniques to ensure integrity of pipeline systems
- Initiate, lead and participate in audits, inspections and surveys, as required
- Assess the data obtained from the inspection activities and draw conclusions about both the current integrity and the required future actions.
- Collate and analyze the data generated by these activities
- Ensure that the relevant FFS analyses are performed when needed and that the required remedial actions are specified and implemented.

- Contribute to the preparation an annual report at the start of each year summarizing the integrity status, key related activities and any challenges for all pipeline systems - Other related activities as required.
- All staff must be willing to participate in crisis response training and to assist during emergency response situations if required.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
- This position is in a OPCO (JV) operating oil & gas facility with offshore/onshore sites, based in Doha, Qatar.
- The position is part of a permanent team on a local residential status working 5d per week
- Trips to offshore and visit to OEM/service company workshops are required on ah-hoc basis.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Degree qualified with a minimum BSc or BEng in a relevant discipline or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar role
- Experienced in pipeline integrity and management systems
- Experience with the design of and modification to subsea pipelines, PLEM and SPM components
- Broad knowledge base and experience of Risk Based Inspection principles applied to pipelines
- Appreciation of standard and advanced inspection techniques
- Experienced in the application of fitness for service/pipeline design principles
- Knowledge of degradation mechanisms and associated principal failure modes in pipeline systems
- Solid understanding of international codes and standards for pipeline design and integrity management
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Team player showing initiative, self-start and high levels of personal integrity
