SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION

Reports to: Operations Team Lead (N+1) and Offshore Installation Manager (N+2) Direct Subordinates: Mechanical Technicians and Rotating Equipment Technicians 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient supervision of all mechanical maintenance, repair, and integrity activities across the Al Shaheen offshore facilities. The role ensures asset reliability and integrity in line with NOC standards and operational objectives. This position also involves enhanced leadership and contractor management responsibilities as mechanical maintenance workloads and team sizes have increased with recent expansion projects.

  • Leading a team of Technicians to support the safe delivery of approximately 65,000 bopd 
  • Act as Performing Authority to ensure that all mechanical work is carried out in accordance with the Permit to Work process and company requirements 
  • Ensuring the timely liquidation of all planned and corrective maintenance activities relevant for the mechanical discipline 
  • Providing technical input to key stakeholders related to the execution of campaign and project scopes

ACTIVITIES

  • Coordinate the mechanical maintenance and repairs of static and rotating equipment, turbines and compressors, that are located on the platform to ensure the normal operation, while following established company procedures and instructions from the Operating Authority
  • Ensure inspections are carried out following the preventive maintenance program to assure the normal operation of the equipment 
  • Ensure that any failure or emergency that may interrupt the normal operations of the mechanical equipment is prevented or corrected
  • Create SAP work orders to ensure all materials are added and estimated work hours are correct
  • Coordinate personnel and logistics during maintenance and repair work to assure quality and efficiency C1 Controlled
  • Ensure mechanical maintenance backlog is maintained within Company targets
  • Provide field input to modifications, technical upgrades and improvements to support implementation
  • Ensure safe delivery of core business through active management of maintenance activities and core operational activities while also integrating the execution of Maintenance and Well Service Campaigns and E&C activities
  • Provide Operating Authority with feedback in order to improve business performance, improve production uptime, deliver cost efficiencies and reduce risk within mechanical area
  • Participate in the Daily Permit Meeting and ensure teams strict compliance with company requirements and safe execution of all mechanical platform work activities 
  • Provide direction, coaching and support to team members to ensure targets are met
  • Motivate and inspire staff in the execution of their responsibilities to drive a performance culture and encourage innovative thinking around process safety and asset integrity 
  • Act as an Emergency Response Team Member as per HSE training matrix and platform requirements
  • Represent NOC appropriately and in accordance with code of ethics when interfacing with internal and external stakeholders  Promote cost consciousness across entire network of stakeholders in order to embed a strong cost culture

Maintenance & Integrity (M&I) 

  • Supervise preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of all mechanical static and rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels. Integral stakeholder in the 5-week IOP planning process.
  • Troubleshoot upsets and conduct root cause analysis (5-Why’s) to ensure the reliability and integrity of mechanical systems in compliance with NOC, OEM, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and optimize Preventive Maintenance (PPM) tasks and frequencies in SAP, ensuring maintenance activities are aligned with reliability and performance goals.
  • Manage deferrals, backlog, and work prioritization in coordination with Planning and Asset Integrity teams.
  • Support the development and implementation of improved M&I methodologies, conducting technical reviews and work management audits to ensure best practices and data integrity in SAP.

Expansion Projects, Drilling and Shutdowns

  • Provide mechanical supervision and support for all Shutdowns, modifications, and new installation scopes.
  • Participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover of new mechanical systems and equipment. (PSSR)
  • Ensure seamless integration between project and maintenance teams to protect asset integrity and minimize operational disruptions.

Safety and Compliance

  • Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring all mechanical work is performed in line with company HSE procedures and NOC Life Saving rules.
  • Conduct toolbox talks (TBT), safety observations (DTSI), and job safety analyses prior to work execution, enforce strict adherence to isolation, permit to work, and isolation procedures (eCoW). Encourage and empower IF+ Champions within the department to speak up, raise HSE related concerns and improvement opportunities.
  • As a key member of the Emergency Command Centre (ECC), maintain a state of readiness to respond to any situation in line with NOC Incident response and management procedures. C1 Controlled

Leadership & Supervision 

  • Supervise and develop an expanding team of mechanical technicians and contractor personnel due to increased field activity, conduct technical coaching, competency assessments, and performance reviews for direct reports and national developees.
  • Demonstrate leadership when managing contractors, specialist Vendors and Field Service Representatives (FSR) to ensure quality, schedule, and safety performance targets are met, promoting teamwork and communication between Production, C&I, E&C and Campaign team disciplines. 

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

The Mechanical Supervisor is the offshore owner of key business and safety critical mechanical systems and is overall accountable for all matters relating to the mechanical discipline offshore. The Mechanical Supervisor supports the OTL in all matters related to managing the day-to-day priorities and ensuring safe delivery of business priorities. Al Shaheen is located approximately 80km NE of Qatar in the Arabian Gulf in an offshore environment with imposing limitations to work delivery. The position is offshore based – on a rotational scheme

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering field or equivalent
  • Industry Experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience in O&G production operations, or mechanical systems in similar industry
