POSITION CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

 

  • Location: Al Shaheen Offshore Field – G-site
  • Department: Field Operations – Offshore Area
  • Report to: Operation Team Leader (N+1), Offshore Installation Manager (N+2)
  • Direct Subordinates: Control & Instrument Technicians
  • Work schedule: Rotational scheme (28 days ON/28 days OFF). Both day and night shifts are part of offshore rotation. 12h per day extendable on request.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Responsible for:

  • Performance and reliability of control systems and instrumental equipment of the assigned area
  • Being a Performing Authority within the assigned area
  • Actively participate as a permanent member of the platform in respect of the team

 

ROLE AND ACTIVITIES

 

Crew management:

  • Lead a team of instrument and control technicians, support vendors and technical/production teams to ensure the day-to-day activities
  • Motivate and inspire staff in the execution of their responsibilities to drive a performance culture
  • Ensure the correct behavior of his team Encourage innovative thinking around control systems and instrument equipment performance
  • Occasional: lead, assist and support non-permanent team present for Control system and instrument Maintenance

 

Operation Planning and Execution:

  • Ensure maintenance tasks and inspections are carried out following the preventive maintenance program to assure the normal operation of the equipment
  • Conscientiously plan all due activities and associated logistics within the assigned area (SAP, materials, tools, PTW, etc.)
  • Provide technical support to planned and corrective maintenance related to instrument equipment’s, and control systems
  • Facilitate and supervise safe execution of planned activities and ensure a proper close-out

 

Permit to Work (PTW) management:

  • Prepare Permit to Work packs to ensure all hazards are identified, risks are mitigated and to prevent coactivity conflict
  • Act as the Permit Controller to ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with the Permit to Work process and company requirements

 

Monitoring and reporting:

  • Ensure Control and instrument maintenance backlog is maintained within Company targets
  • Ensure that any failure or emergency that may interrupt the normal operations of control systems and instrument Equipment is prevented or corrected
  • Prepare maintenance reports containing as found and as left condition including findings for follow up actions
  • Monitor Downgraded Situation related to control systems and instrument equipment and makes sure mitigation/ barrier are already in place to assure safe operation
  • Keep the OTL informed on a daily basis on routine and upset conditions related to area of responsibility

 

Safety and Risk Management:

  • Contribute for the development and review of risk assessments, ensuring hazards are identified, mitigations are adequate, and risks are minimized
  • Actively participate in and promote an incident-free culture, adhering to company health and safety campaigns, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure record keeping and reporting of action items from Process Hazard Analyses, Incident Investigations, Root Cause Failure Analyses, Process Incidents audits and other activities as required

 

PERFORMING AUTHORITY ROLE

 

  • Before a work: Ensure completeness of PTW, conduct site inspection, review risk assessment, verify isolations, ensure robust ToolBox Talk is carried out, ensure all involved parties fully understand the work
  • During a work: Supervise all work under his responsibility, stop work if conditions changed or if unsafe
  • After a work: Ensure work is complete and site left tidy and safe, record lessons learned

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

 

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in any Engineering field or equivalent
  • Industry Experience: Minimum 7-8 years’ experience in O&G production operations, or control systems and instrument Equipment in similar industry
  • Certifications:
    • T-BOSIET / H2S
    • Fitness to Work Certificate
    • Advanced First Aid
    • Basic and Advanced Firefighting

 

Company specific certification (as a minimum):

  • Incident free supervisor certification
  • Health & Industrial Hygiene
  • Industry Golden rules
  • Basic Cause Tree Analysis
  • Oil Spill Principles and Management Level 1
  • Electrical Habilitation Level 2
  • Gas and NORM test training

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

 

Technical knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding and application of maintenance management model in the industry
  • Proficient in Control systems (Siemens and Yokogawa is required) as well as PLC and UCP controls and operation
  • Basic understanding of process, electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment principles
  • Knowledgeable in industry process safety guidelines and procedures

 

Language skills:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English (mandatory)

Probation duration: The position includes a probationary period of 6 months (3 trips) during which performance and suitability for the role will be assessed by site management. All staff must be willing to participate in emergency response training and to assist during emergency response situations if required.
